I was listening to the soundtrack to Disney's Beauty and the Beast tonight, and I had a random (and possibly sacrilegious) thought:
The song that reminds me most of Jareth isn't one of the ones about the Beast, it's the one about Gaston.
You remember the one - Gaston has just proposed to Belle and been flatly refused, even though he had declared his intentions to marry her before all the townspeople (while pretty girls swoon over him in the background). He's the hottest, most envied guy around...but he can't get the one girl that he wants. (Sound familiar? Just substitute Jareth dancing with Sarah at the masquerade for Gaston's declaration in the market square.)
So. On to the challenge! Write a story about Labyrinth that's based on Beauty and the Beast...but with Jareth and Sarah based on Gaston and Belle, respectively. More broadly, any non-Beast character for Jareth and/or any non-Belle character for Sarah. (And yes, you can change the ending.)
I don't know what to give the winner, but perhaps a oneshot on the prompt of their choice? Sound fair?

If you love Latin, you love the Hunchback! I recommend you listen to this song "Sanctuary" on the soundtrack. I too adore Latin, and after taking Spanish for four years I see more connections than I can even count. The word Domine for instance means Lord in Latin- Domingo in Spanish is the word for Sunday and yet Sunday is the Lord's day, the day we set aside as a holy day and go to church. And another interesting thing-A.D does not mean "after death", it means ano Domine, or "the year of our Lord", interesting considering ano in Spanish means year also... Sorry for the ramblings- pray you could teach me more Latin? I plan to take it next semester in college
